Whether it's one-on-one, family-focused or experiential, our sessions are never defined until the best result is identified. Because of our open and flexible approach, we can give what is needed for each person. In the pursuit of this, the practicalities of our sessions will always vary. We may use several clinicians in a session with one client for several hours. We may even spend the whole day with a client. Or the right approach could find us spending time with a client’s family to discern what is needed for lasting change.

The multifaceted approach to the services offered at The Resurface Group in Orange County, Los Angeles CA, and Austin TX is designed to offer the broadest range of offerings with a unified experience under direct clinical supervision. This kind of program is distinctive to our life-based clinical services, and it means each person participates in a program that fits their unique outlook.
It all starts with our client’s needs and goals. Each person who comes to us begins with an in-depth and exhaustive assessment to define their goals and what it will take to make continual, successful progress. We walk through each stage of change navigating through internal and external blocking points to draw out a plan of action.

The end result is designed to help individuals navigate life on a day-to-day level and maneuver their own lives for a promising future.

This multi-faceted approach starts, pending initial assessment, generally around 45 hours of service the first month. This is Level 8 of of our 10 levels of care. As the plan progresses the clinical team will recommend changes in level based on progress or regression. Please keep in mind, we passionately believe in creating a unique plan for each individual person based on their precise needs, your services provided will be unique to you.
1. FAMILY SYSTEMS
Our main goal at Resurface Group is strengthening and working with the whole family. We educate, support, and coach each family member to develop new practices and vital communication for lasting well-being. We teach families how to communicate effectively with each other, which improves problems and eliminates misunderstandings. We are skilled parent coaches and educate parents on setting and keeping appropriate boundaries with their kids. Developmental transitions can create rupture and confusion within a family, and we are adept at successfully walking through these milestones with our clients.
2. EXPERIENTIAL ACTIVITIES
Experiential work is the foundation of the Resurface Approach. Whether engaging in creative clinical practices or walking alongside our clients in the stream of important life activities, we have found that experiential work creates profound connection and change. Every client has a different way of engaging with learning and the change process. Creative experiential approaches help engage our clients' full diversity and uniqueness and aid in finding solutions to even the most intractable problems.
3. COACHING & LIFE SKILLS
Goal-directed behavior is a necessity in creating meaningful and purpose-driven change. The Resurface Approach incorporates intensely clinical practices into coaching and life skill interventions. Clients benefit from deeply understanding the why of their behaviors and barriers, as well as receiving tangible structure and support to practice their lives in new and healthier ways.
4. THERAPEUTIC MODALITIES
The Resurface Group utilizes diverse therapeutic modalities based on our clinician expertise and, more importantly, determining the ideal approach for each of our unique clients and families. Our expert clinical team possesses specialty in DBT, CBT, EMDR, ACT, Brief Solution Focused, Mindfulness-Based Recovery, Havening, Trauma Informed, LGBTQ+ Affirmative, Individual, Couples, Family Therapy, Family Systems, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Narrative Therapy, and Experiential Therapy. While we can use a variety of clinical approaches to aid our clients, we select the best approach for the unique person and problem that comes through our door.
5. SKILLS INTEGRATION
Awareness is the first step in the change process but is ultimately insufficient without following action and integration. The Resurface Approach emphasizes learning and integration simultaneously. By means of walking alongside our clients in the learning process, they develop the musculature to practice and maintain new skills long after they have outgrown treatment.
